Short answer: In Nepal a Novastar controller costs from Rs. 19,200 (TB1 multimedia player) to Rs. 7,26,000 (4K Prime Pro), excluding VAT. Most shop, restaurant and office screens up to about 650,000 pixels need only a TB10 Plus (Rs. 23,000) or TB20 Plus (Rs. 35,500). Larger walls step up to the TB40/TB60, a VX400/VX600 all-in-one controller, or a Pro-series processor for events and 4K content.
Every LED screen needs two pieces of electronics besides the panels: receiving cards inside each cabinet, and one sending device (a controller, player or video processor) that feeds them. Choose the wrong sending device and the picture is cut off, scaled badly or you can’t change content without a laptop. This guide lists the Novastar models we stock in Kathmandu with their current prices and tells you which one fits your screen.

Step 1: count your screen’s pixels
A controller’s capacity is quoted in pixels. Work out yours like this:
- Width in pixels = screen width in mm ÷ pixel pitch. A 2.56 m wide P2.5 screen is 2560 ÷ 2.5 = 1024 px.
- Height in pixels = screen height in mm ÷ pixel pitch. 1440 ÷ 2.5 = 576 px.
- Total = width × height = 1024 × 576 ≈ 5.9 lakh pixels.
Rule of thumb: one Novastar Ethernet output drives about 6.5 lakh pixels (650,000). TB10 Plus and TB20 Plus are in this class. The TB40 handles roughly twice that and the TB60 about 2.3 million. The VX400 and VX600 drive about 2.6 and 3.9 million pixels across four and six outputs.
Worked examples from real screens we sell
| Screen | Size | Pixels | Controller we fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| 115.6″ LC4 indoor (P4) | 2.56 × 1.44 m | 640 × 360 = 2.3 lakh | TB10 Plus |
| 115.6″ LC2.5 indoor (P2.5) | 2.56 × 1.44 m | 1024 × 576 = 5.9 lakh | TB20 Plus |
| 209.7″ LC4 indoor (P4) | 4.64 × 2.61 m | 1160 × 652 = 7.6 lakh | TB40 |
| 209.7″ LC2.5 indoor (P2.5) | 4.64 × 2.61 m | 1856 × 1044 = 19.4 lakh | TB60 or VX400 |
| LDT6 outdoor, 297.56 sq ft | 27.6 m² | ≈ 7.7 lakh | TB40 |
Our complete displays already include the right controller in the price, so you only buy one separately for a self-built wall, an upgrade or a replacement.
Step 2: decide how you will play content
“We change ads and menus from a phone” → TB series (Taurus)
The TB10 Plus, TB20 Plus, TB40 and TB60 are multimedia players. They store videos and images and play them on a schedule without a PC. Staff update them over Wi-Fi with the ViPlex app on a phone or laptop. This suits restaurants, shops, banks, schools and outdoor ad boards, which make up most of the projects we install. Most TB models also take an HDMI input for live TV or a laptop.
“We run live shows, cameras and laptops” → VX series
The VX400 and VX600 are all-in-one controllers: video processor plus sending card. They take several live inputs (HDMI, DVI, SDI depending on model), switch cleanly between them and scale any source to the wall. Banquet halls, conference halls and stages use them because the screen shows the stage camera one minute and a presentation the next.
“Concerts, big events, 4K content” → Pro processors
The DSP600 Pro, DSP1000 Pro and 4K Prime Pro sit at the top of the range. They are for event rental companies, broadcast-style shows and very large or fine-pitch walls where you need many inputs, seamless switching and 4K processing. If you are not sure you need one, you probably don’t. Ask us and we’ll size it.
Common mistakes we fix
- Undersized controller. The image is cut off or the wall needs two players that can’t sync. Count pixels first.
- Buying a video processor for a menu board. A VX400 costs ten times a TB10 Plus and still needs a PC to play content.
- Mismatched receiving cards. Spares must match the cards and firmware already in the cabinets. Bring us the card model printed on the board.
- Grey-market units. Novastar firmware and app access depend on genuine hardware. We supply genuine units with warranty in Kathmandu.
Not sure which one you need? Send us your screen size and pixel pitch on WhatsApp. We’ll reply with the right model and price the same day.
